That's a great question. There are challenges in veterinary wound management where there are wounds that benefit from rapid progression to granulation following debridement. Traditional wound management can take longer than NPWT to achieve a healthy granulating wound bed over which to reconstruct. The consideration is also the number of interventions needed to achieve a healthy wound bed. Using NPWT can achieve a healthy wound bed more quickly with less interventions, this includes less anaesthesia events which carry their own risks.
